Together with my Bruegel colleague Alexander Lehmann, we prepared an in-depth analysis on size-based differentiation or "tailoring" of prudential requirements for banks, comparing the structures and policy regimes in the euro area and the United States. Among other findings, we highlight the much greater number of stand-alone smaller banks in the US than in Europe, and advise against further tailoring in the near term in the euro area.
